Röntgen / Hubcap II
This layered, photo and mixed media printmaking edition takes its inspiration from New York's grand Abstract Expressionist canvases of mid-century. The concept takes after Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, who won the first Nobel prize in physics for his development of the X-ray (1901). Layered exposures and manipulated materials combine to cast floating hubcaps in skeletal relief. Dirt, grain and artifacts inscribe the surface, as do bleeding, radioactive pigments.
