Marionettentheater II
A network of suspended rail wires delivers electricity over this twilight trainyard scene in Long Island City, Queens, New York City. An evening Amtrak (foreground) sprints northeast. The luminous drama takes shape under the orchestration of this railway matrix, as if animated by marionette wires. Title hails from Heinrich von Kleist's prescient philosophical essay, "Über das Marionettentheater" / "On the Marionette Theater" (1810).
